F.A.Q
Am I too old to start?
In America today 6 million people regularly train in the martial arts, spread out through about 13,000 martial arts schools: These statistics come from the Sporting Goods Manufacturing Association: International Health; Racquet and Sports Club Association and Martial Arts Industry Association
- 6 million participants between ages 6 and 11
- 1 million participants between ages 12 and 17
- 3 million participants between ages 18 and 54
- And 100,000 seniors, age 55 and above are becoming involved.
- Are you too old? You're never too old to start your martial arts training!
What days do you teach?
We're open six days a week, from Monday through Saturday. During the week we start our classes around 4pm. Theses classes are for the whole family while Teen and Adult Classes begin in the late afternoon and early evening, after school and work. On Saturday, our classes start at 10 in the morning and end after noon.
Do you compete in tournaments and do I have to?
Tournament competition is very competitive. We do encourage everyone to participate, though it is not a requirement to obtain any rank with us. We do have several students who travel and compete in tournaments around the United States, however, we do have inner-school tournaments for new and experienced competitors.
Here are some great links for up and comings tournaments
Will my child learn to be abusive?
Absolutely not! Karate is self defense, not self offense. Every child is taught our "student creed", which is a necessary part of learning the philosophy of our school. Our student creed states..."I will us common sense before self-defense and never be abusive or offensive." Our creed is a commitment students learn in order to maintain the courtesy and integrity of our art.
Are classes safe?
Karate is a highly supervised activity, in fact, the average student/teacher ratio is only 10 to 1. This ratio is three times less than a public school. The children are never asked to perform any movements that would put them in danger of injury. The curriculum is never harmful, sometimes a little challenging to build greater self-image but never too difficult so that a child won't experience "failure".
Will my child have fun?
Karate is good, clean fun for kids...and a great way to give kids a head start on life. It has been our understanding that parents want the lasting benefits of confidence, respect, self-esteem and self-discipline that Karate offers, however, we don't want a struggle with the children when it's time to get ready for class. Our instructors have become leaders in the field of motivating children. It is a required part of our instructor training to take seminars that teach "children so they want to learn". Motivation, excitement and fun are the essential tools we use to increase the learning and performance of our Karate kids. We also offer various school events that teach children how to get along better with others, thus creating a spirit of teamwork and a sense of belonging. In recent months our students have met Martial Arts stars, attended sleep over's, pizza parties, summer fun camp and more. Not only do our students learn the most, they have the most too!
How Much does it cost and is it worth the money?
Our primary focus is to teach children "life skills. Because a structure of respect, courtesy and honesty is built into Karate, children develop the ability to listen, learn, and achieve with a highly regulated environment. Most sports don't build leadership traits, if you have the necessary skills to perform you're in the game, if not you're on the bench. Karate is different, the program is designed to develop leaders. Each week we teach the children how to develop such traits as confidence, self-discipline, better listening skills, honesty, integrity and much, much more. The classes combine the fun and excitement of Karate training with weekly mental and philosophical lessons designed to strengthen our children mentally and physically. We are currently offering a FREE 30 DAY TRIAL membership that allows you to train for one full moth to see if martial arts is right for you and your family.
